Monster of the Midway
You thought the Chicago Bears were monsters? How about some of the Chicago-area golf courses? Our trip starts in Chicago at one of the great American public golf destinations, Cog Hill. While in town, after indulging in some incredible pizza, we tackle Medinah, a former major championship host. Unfortunately, these are merely warm-up courses for the challenge of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and the four courses associated with the 5-star American Club. This Midwest golf mecca was developed by bathroom faucet mogul Herb Kohler and his good friend Pete Dye. The A-list attraction here is the dreaded Straits Course at Whistling Straits, a Ryder Cup and multiple major championship venue on Lake Michigan, featuring over 1,000 bunkers. Optional rounds on the adjacent Irish Course at Whistling Straits, as well as both courses at Blackwolf Run down the road, are all Dye masterpieces.
