Northern California will always be a top-shelf golf destination as long as 17-Mile Drive doesn’t sink into the Pacific Ocean. But San Francisco itself offers plenty of fantastic golf course architecture. The restored TPC at Harding Park is a top-tier city muni that recently hosted the 2020 PGA Championship. San Francisco Golf Club, an A.W. Tillinghast classic design with later remodeling by Tom Doak, was one of the first superstar designs west of the Mississippi. And, of course, the exquisite Olympic Club, where Johnny Miller grew up, has hosted a number of majors, with the 2025 U.S. Amateur and the 2032 Ryder Cup on the horizon.
